Hello, how was your weekend?  Yesterday was my wedding anniversary! I'm a very lucky girl. I know this well.

As you guys know, I'm a big fan of faux-glowing. (Read This and This ) I'm not going to do anything to speed up the aging process, yet I don't want to be pale either.

For years I've heard about Bondi Sands. It was this epic sunless tanner that was only available in Australia. In the various beauty mags I read, all of the beauty editors and MUA's would always encourage anyone who was traveling to Australia to buy as many bottles as they could to bring home.

I'd watch Aussie ladies on Youtube show off their Bondi Sands sunless tan. I was intrigued and envious.

This past February, I opened up my Gmail in box one day. I read the top email and shirked in delight. Guess what the email said?  Bondi Sands was now being exported to United States! I whipped out my credit card and bought a bottle right then and there.

I did my first application last night and I wanted to share my thoughts about it with you. For reference, I bought the Ultra Dark ( of coarse I did) foam.

  • First point worth noting is that this smells NOTHING like sunless tanner. It smells like coconut tanning lotion.

  • It dries SO quickly. There was no sitting around feeling sticky.

  • The color that I got was the deepest/darkest that I've ever been. My boss who is full blooded Italian said "You are as dark as I get in the summer!"

The bottle recommends putting one layer on, waiting 30 minutes and putting another layer on. That's exactly what I did.

An interesting point...Today my boss treated my friend and I to a surprise pedicure (Yes, I work for the best person ever.) I was expecting to loose a bunch of the tan during this process, as they exfoliate your legs. I was so surprised , but NOTHING came off.

Obviously, I can't say how it will wear yet. However, I'm completely sold on this stuff so far. Baring it wearing off too quickly/overall splotchy I have a new favorite!

Here is a link to their website Bondi Sands
All first time orders get 20% off.
Also, I hear that Bondi Sands is being carried in Wal-Greens. I have not seen it there yet myself, but I do hope that's true.

Four years ago today, I married the love of my life. They say "Time flies when you are having fun." Oh, how right they are.

Typically, I'm not one to broadcast my feelings for my husband to the world. My love for him is between us. I don't have the desire to convince anyone (or myself ) about how strong our bond is.

This year is a little different though. Without getting into too much detail, I had a serious medical scare two weeks ago. There was a full five days of waiting for results. It was absolute torture. Thankfully, the best case scenario is what ended up being what happened. ( I’m going to be good as new very soon.)

Over those five days though, I was reminded of how even if the worse case scenario played out, I was still one the luckiest, most loved, beyond blessed people to ever walk this earth.
Chad didn't leave my side. When I needed a rock, I got a boulder.  It goes so much deeper than five days though.  In the lottery of life, I hit the jackpot with with this man.
I know this man would never, ever betray me. He'd never inflict the emotional murder of infidelity of any type upon me.
I know that this man would never let anyone or anything come in between us. He'd never let any entity, habit or person be in our lives if it came at the cost of putting stress on our union.

Even more significant is all of the things that he does do.
If something is important to me, it automatically becomes important to him. My involvement with dog rescue is what immediately comes to mind. While everyone else tries to tell me "You can't save them all" , Chad has jumped in the thick of it with me. From donating money, to organizing drives at his work, it became as important to him as it is to me.

A few years ago, my mom had an operation. It was Chad who was there to pick her up at the hospital. It was Chad who took time off from work to take care of her during her recovery.

When my best friend was coming in on a flight that landed at 11:30 pm, it was him who said "Tell her we are picking her up, there is no reason for her to be alone in the airport parking garage at midnight."  This is the guy who snow-blows out our elderly neighbors each and every time it snows, even though they never once asked him to.

Lord knows, I'm not without my faults and flaws. Yet, this amazing person who I married never tries to change me. He has never held any of my past mistakes against me.
Other people would be beyond annoyed at some of the things that I do. Horrifically spoiling our dogs, commandeering an entire linen closet to fill it to brim with makeup come to mind. Not Chad though, he takes it all in stride.
Other men would get angry or frustrated  over the colossal amount of clothing, shoes and purses that I've amassed. Not Chad though. What did he do? Build me extra storage in my closet.

The truth is, I could go on and on talking about all of the wonderful attributes of this husband of mine. However, all of the words in the English language will never be able to  adequately express the love that I have for him.
People love to say things like "marriage is hard!" , "Marriage is a lot of work!". The only marriage I've ever been in is that one, so its the only marriage which I can speak to. I can say though, hard it is not. Being married to this man and loving this man is the easiest most natural thing I've ever done or experienced.
Life can be hard, that's for sure. I'm blessed to have the best person I've ever known by my side for those hard times, the really good times and everything in between.

Happy Anniversary Chad, here's to 100 more. I love you.

Crushing on Kendra

April 26, 2019 in

Welcome to your Friday, Friends! Dose anyone have anything fun planned?
I do! my hubby & I are celebrating our wedding anniversary this weekend. My gosh, time flies.

Today, I wanted to talk to you guys about how obsessed I am with Kendra Scott's new Summer 2019 line.
Actually, first lets talk about how awesome Kendra Scott the person is. This lady is 100% self made.
In the summer of 2002. she had a mere $500.00 in her bank account. She was upset over the fact that should could not find bright gem stone jewelry at a price point which she could afford.
So, she decided to start making her own. That's when her empire was born. She went door to door in her Austin neighborhood. She had a failed business in the past. That wasn't going to stop her though.
I just love that tenacity.

I've been buying her jewelry for five or six years now.
I remember one time when Chad and I were on vacation, I was so excited because I saw that one of the stores in the hotel carried her entire collection. I was so excited to shop.

Side note...Kendra, you need a boutique here in Massachusetts. The Derby Street Plaza in Hingham would be ideal for you...

Anyway, lets look at some of her darling new summer styles!

I could go on and on showing you guys this stuff. I love it all!  I suggest going to her site and checking out the entire line yourself.

Do you share my love of all things Kendra?

Twenty Randoms

April 24, 2019 in
Hi Babes,
Happy Wednesday my loves.
Today, I'm doing something I hate to do...running a pre-written post.
Remember back in January that abscessed tooth I had? Well, the saga continues.
Today, I'm meeting with an oral surgeon. I'm not expecting to be out of things today. That's what I'm hoping for at least. However, I'm going to be needing to have two different operations done. I'm not sure what exactly is in store for today, but I wanted to still have something to share with you.

A few months ago, I did a random Q & A (Read that Here). It was a lot of fun, and you guys seemed to like it too!  So, for kicks and giggles lets do another one! Don't fall asleep!

  1. Who is your hero?

Easy one!  This man right here. One day, I might attempt to articulate all of the reason why. However, words can never express what I feel for this hero.

2. What really makes you angry?

It's VERY hard to make me angry. However, what never will not enrage me is when the weak and defenseless are harmed such as in cases of animal abuse and neglect, child abuse or neglect, elder abuse and neglect.

3. What is your favorite book to read?

"The Great Gatsby" I've read this 25 + times in my life (so far).

4. What makes you laugh the most?

Chad. He is literally the funniest person EVER and knows the way to my funny bone!!

5.What was the last movie you went to? What did you think?

So, I'm NOT a movie watcher. I cannot sit still or shut up for 2 straight hours. Its been over a year since I went to the movies. The last time I went was April of last year. We saw Chappaquiddick. It was fantastic

6.What would you sing at Karaoke night?

NOTHING. Guys, my voice is so bad that I don't even want to hear me sing.

7. What two radio stations do you listen to in the car the most?

XM 70's and XM 90's #livinginthepast

8.If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work?

I love cooking, I enjoy cleaning and I DETEST yard work. Thankfully, Chad enjoys yard work, so we are all good!

9. If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?

Oh tough one. I'd love to see the roaring 20's. I'd love to be around in August of 1945 to see the end of WWII, I'd of loved to have been alive for the 4th of July during the 1976 bi-centennial .

10.  What's the longest you've gone without sleep (and why)?

The 48 hours leading up to my wedding. I was literally to excited to sleep!!!

11.How often do you buy clothes?

I respectfully invoke my rights under the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution on the grounds that answering questions may incriminate me.

12. Are you a clean or messy person?

Clean. I cannot stand messes and clutter.

13. What kitchen appliance do you use every day?

My Nespresso machine! Get one, you'll thank me.

14.What's your favorite family recipe?

Gratin Dauphinois or "Those potatoes" as we call them in our family!

15.What was your favorite subject in school?

US History

16. Is there anything you wished would come back into fashion?

Ohhh, good one!  Yes, flared jeans. Just because skinny jeans have been a thing for so long now.

17.What song would you say best sums you up?

Loving Each Day by, Ronan Keating

18.What celebrity would you like to meet at Starbucks for a cup of coffee?

Meh, there is no "celebrity" I care enough about to want to meet. I just don't care about Hollywood or pop culture.

19. What is your favorite family holiday tradition?

Christmas Eve at our house!!!!

20.Who knows you the best?

Cliche answer time! But, obviously, its this guy. He knows me better than anyone.

There you have it, thank you if you are still awake :)

Are you pedi ready?

April 22, 2019 in

Hi friends!
How was your weekend?
So, we are now in the time of year where you could be wearing sandals at any point?
Have you had your inaugural pedicure of the season yet? I do go all winter long, but not nearly as often as I do during sandal season. Funny story, On Christmas Eve we were hosting as we always do. That morning, I scheduled a pedicure to be party ready. Of course, there is always something that you remember you need at the supermarket when you are having guests. So there I was, walking around the supermarket on a frigid New England Christmas Eve day in flip flops to avoid smudging my new pedi. I was crazy town personified.

Anyhow, Its time to treat yourself to a pedicure for the spring. You deserve it. You deserve the massaging chair, the hot oil and stone on your legs.

Here are a few colors to consider for this first pedi of the season.

  • A poppy red

Look at this gorgeous , tropical shade by Chanel! I'm obsessed

  • A Clean White

This would look so nice on (faux) tanned tootsies in a blush colored sandal.

  • A warm coral

The pantone color of the year, this year is a pretty one. Colada vibes all around.

  • Borderline fluorescent pink

When Christian Louboutin makes a nail polish, I'm buying it! Even the bottle is stunning.

  • A lilac-y purple

Elegant and feminine all at once.

  • A bubble gum pink

What pedicure does Dutchess Megan have? I'm guessing something similar to this.

  • A punchy fuscia

Bright and bold. You'll be styling.

These are the colors that I love. Granted, I'm not one who typically gravitates to blues, oranges, etc. However, if you do, ROCK THEM BABY!
I'm from the school of thought that it looks great to do a neutral-ish polish on your fingers and to go all out on your toes.
If there is a shade you are interested in trying , but are on the fence about it, why not test it out on your toes?

What are your summer colors that you love?

Humidity Haters.....

April 19, 2019 in

Hello chicas!
I've always thought of Easter weekend to be the ushering in of true spring.
This past weekend, we had our first taste of humid air. Its simply part and parcel of living on the ocean.
Humidity has always been especially cruel to my thick, naturally curly hair (that I blow out).
I've tried pretty much each and every frizz fighter out there over the past 20 years.
Luckily, things have come a long way since teenage me was trying to keep my hair from being a puff ball. Back in those days, a thick silicone solution was your only choice. That in its self was an improvement from when we'd have to cover our hair in extra strength Dep Gel. ( I LOVED the 1990's, but some aspects were tragic!)

Over the past few summers, I've found myself some serious "product heroes" as I like to call them. These are my solders that battle the frizz.  Today, I'm going to share them with you.

First up is:
Caviar Anti-Aging Anti Frizz Blowout Butter

                                                 Caviar Blowout Butter $34.00

Let me stress, a little of this goes a VERY, VERY long way. I have a lot of hair. My hair is very thick. I use a dime sized amount on my collar bone length hair.
It works like a charm and smells very light and clean.

Then we have

  • Living Proof Humidity Shield
                                   Living Proof Humidity Shield $23

This is not a hair spay, contrary to the looks of it.
After you have dried your hair, section it out and spray this over each section.  It acts as if its a fortress around your hair protecting it from the muggies. It does not weigh your hair down at all and smells like pink grapefruit.

Moving along:

  • Its a 10 Miracle Silk Leave in
Its a 10 Miracle Silk Leave in $24

This stuff literally changes the texture of my hair. The rough, course feeling just magically goes away when I spray this in. It never, ever makes my hair feel "over conditioned" or greasy. It does however, make my hair feel like it belongs to someone who didn't abuse a flat iron for 10+ years...

On to a splurge ...
  • Orbie Smoothing Blowout Cream
                                   Orbie Smoothing Blowout Cream $54

Not that its the point of this post, but the scent on this stuff is just divine. Yes, this one is pricey. One tube of this lasts me SO LONG though. Again, a very little goes quite a long way. I'm obsessed with this stuff.

And finally.....

  • WOW Dream Coat
                                       WOW! Dream Coat $28

I know that I've talked about this one before. This stuff is so unlike anything I've ever used before. It looks, feels and smells like regular water. However, it transforms my hair like nothing else.
Its so effective, you only use it every 3rd time you wash your hair. I spray it on to each individual section of hair before I blow dry it. Aside from how it virtually makes your hair humidity proof, it makes my hair shine like its NEVER shined before. I wish I could give this stuff an award.

So that's it from me. Are there any products that you swear by to fight the frizz?

The Look For Less

April 17, 2019 in

Its finally fun, warm weather clothing time, hooray! I know, I sound like a broken record. I get it. I can't help it, I love the warm weather.

Last summer, I did a "The look for Less" post. I was surprised how popular it was. Then again, I'm surprised that any of you read anything that I post. So, THANK YOU so much for that.

I thought we should do more of these posts, because who doesn't love getting a deal?

First, this jumpsuit. I saw it on Nordstrom late February-ish. I loved it, bu it just was not time for spring shopping.
On Nordstrom, it was $120.  Well, I found the exact same thing on Amazon for $25!

                                                                   Stripped Romper
The one on the left is the less expensive one. I think it looks better. I'd of included the link to the Nordstrom one too, but their page seems to be down. Its by the brand 1901 though if you really want to find it.

Look at these jellies! These are so adorable.

I don't hide the fact that I love me some designer things. I love the feeling of taking home a new bag or whatnot, that I'd been coveting for months and months. Truly though, I don't want to save up for jelly sandals. I'll save up for a bag, I'll save up for sunglasses. For Jelly sandals though, I'm gladly going to scoop up the $20 pair.

Now, let's look at these pants. So comfy, yet they don't look sloppy. Effortless chic, I'd call them.
                                        Gibson Drawstring Pants $59.00

A New Day Tie Waist Pants $27

I have both of these actually. I'm not going to turn down comfy, summer pants.
I love and recommend both pairs.

Moving along, is essentially the shorts version of the pants. I love what is know as "paper bag" shorts and skirts. They define the waist , but are still super comfy.

                                         Gibson Shorts $44.00

                                         A New Day Shorts $22

Those are today's "deals". This type of blog post is fun to post. I think I'll do more of them as the spring and summer play out.

Do you have any go to places for saving mula on fashion? Tell me...PLEASE   :)

Hi Friends!
Did you all have a good weekend?
Yesterday, we celebrated my Mother-in-law's birthday. She is SUCH an amazing person. Truly, so full of love and kindness. Plus, she raised literally the best human I've ever known.

I got to thinking as I have been switching out my closet for the season (bye boots! Bye sweaters!! c-ya!!), just how much of my wardrobe is from New England based apparel manufactures. I thought that it would be kind of fun to talk about my favorite New England based companies here today.

In my 20's, I did a LOT of domestic travel. Between the ages of 24-30, I made it to 40 off the 50 states.
I make no attempt to ever hide how much I LOVE MY COUNTRY.  I know that literally every other blessing in my life goes back to the fact that I am an American. However, I'll get into that more later (Hello July 4th!!!).
As a young 20 something though, I remember being surprised to see as I ventured into other parts of the country, that most folks are not nearly as preppy as we are here in New England! Who knew?
I'm not sure WHY New England is so preppy ? I'm going to guess that it has something to do with the amount of Ivy League colleges that are here, the lasting JFK legacy and the fact that we have Nantucket? These are just purely guesses on my part though, so don't try to take it to the bank!

Anyhow, here are the New England brands that I live in and love.

  • Vineyard Vines

Going strong since 1998, Vineyard Vines was started by two brothers from Greenwich, CT who summered on Martha's Vineyard. You really cannot get more New England than that.
Their styles are clean and timeless. You'll look equally in place in their garb whether you are on a private golf course , or if you are having yourself a roudy night at The Chicken Box

  • LL Bean

I am so happy to see LL Bean back in sun. Bean Boots are as hot as can be, again (this is very cyclical).
Aside from Bean Boots, LL Bean has amazing polos, button downs, jackets, totes , etc.  Their quality really, truly is better than most everything else out there. While Bean is very preppy, thats not what their Maine (pun intended) mission is. LL Bean sets out to appeal to the practical New Englander. Common sense and quality is what this company is all about.

                                         Patchwork Shorts

  • Kiel James Patrick

Off to the ocean state from this company which is  owned by a hubby and wifey team who have a cute baby, ADORABLE dog and really cool Jeep Grandwagoneer. Their quality is FANTASTIC and is all made right here in New England. Oh, and another cool thing? These folks are completly self-made. They built every aspect of their company with their own two hands. It just makes me happy to support them and their brand.

  • Sperry

Back to Massachusetts for Sperry. I don't think I know a single New Englander who has not opened a pair of Sperry's at one point or another.  80+ years later, they are stinging strong.

  • Frye Boots

More from Massachusetts! Frye Boots originated in Marlbrough, MA in 1863. The best, softest leather EVER. Frye boots look amazing when you first get them. Somehow, someway though they get better looking with each and every wear.  True story, I have a client who has a pair of Frye boots that she bought in 1981. They are to die for.

Next up, we have a tie..

  •  New Balance & Converse

New Balance is known for their world class running shoes. Converse dominated professional basketball for years.  Converse is great because they cross all sorts of style boundaries . Preepsters, hipsters and many others proudly rock this brand.
New Balance is the reigning champ of athletic footwear for runners, cross fit devotees and more.

You know me, I love to save the best for last. That would have to be

  • Talbots

Talbots is the epitome of well made Classics. Founded in Hingham, MA (about 20 min from where I live!) in 1947, Talbots has perpetually been a purveyor of well made classics. Their clothing lasts forever. That on top of the fact that they are so classic that they won't go out of style. I really cannot get enough of this brand.

Well this was fun! Are there any brands that are local to where you are from? Shout them out!
