Seasonal Color Analysis. Its something that not too many people are aware of. Yet, its something almost everyone can benefit from.
My first introduction to it was when I was a sophomore in high school. I was in Ms. Duggan's class called "Fashion" (It was actually a sewing class). She did a several class lesson based on "Color Me Beautiful" by Carole Jackson  .
That's where I learned that everyone falls into 1 of 4 "color seasons".

Color Seasons have nothing to do with what season you were born in or what your favorite season is.
The basic theory is broken down into two factors which are:
 1) Is your skin tone cool (summer/ winter) or warm (spring/autumn?
 2) Is your overall coloring light (spring/summer) or deep (Autumn/winter)

Before we go any further, let me stress...this is just going to serve as a broad overview of your seasonal color analysis. I will provide resources if you want to dig a little deeper.
"Why does any of this matter?" you might be asking.  When you are wearing "your" colors, you look so much better then when you are not. I dare to say "my colors" make me look better/healthier than the best makeup does.
Wearing your colors gives you this healthy glow. You look well rested and vibrant.
Put your thinking cap on for a second. Is there a dress or blouse that you have that whenever you wear it, you get complimented? If so, that's likely one of "your" colors.

The Four Seasonal Palettes are as follows:

The summer has cool and light coloring. Summer's have fair skin generally, often they will only burn and not tan. Sometimes, it will have almost "see through" aspect to it.
The Summer was often blonde as a child. She might be blonde still. However, medium brown hair is common too just so long as its ashy, not warm.
The summer's eyes are often light blue or green. They can also be a rosy brown.

The spring has warm and light coloring. Like the summer, the spring has fair skin. Although, the spring's will look more ivory to the summer's rosy skin. The "peaches and cream" complexion is indicative of a spring. The spring will also have light hair. However, it will not be ashy at all.  Strawberry blonde, copper red and golden blonde are all hair colors that a spring will have naturally.
The spring will have eyes that are typically warm green, hazel, aqua blue or amber brown.

The skin tone of a winter can be porcelain or true ebony and everything in between.  Its all about the cool and the contrast.
The winter has dark hair. It might be jet black, or dark ash brown.
Her eyes are dark brown, deep blue or emerald green .

The autumn has a warm rich complexion. Her coloring might even appear caramel or beige. Her hair is auburn, espresso, dark chestnut or coppery brown. Her eyes might be dark brown, they could be hazel  or olive green.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. so, lets take a look.
I'm starting with one of my own. This is of my dear friend Christine and me. Christine is a true autumn and I'm a true summer. This picture shows the difference between her warm and my cool coloring perfectly.
Christine has gorgeous auburn hair. Her ivory skin warms beautifully in the sun and she blushes the loveliest peachy shade. Her blue eyes have a turquoise quality to them.
On the other hand there is me. My hair has a very cool tone to it. Yes, its lightened to a more "blonde" shade than is now natural. However, my "roots" are pretty visible here. They are dirty blonde (my natural shade is a 7).  My eyes are a cool green and my skin has a pinkness to it.

Let's look at some well known faces.

Here is Courtney Cox. She's a winter if I've ever seen one.
Cool coloring with a high contrast between her skin and hair.

Now, let's look at Kate Beckinsale . This lady is an autumn all day long. Look at that warm skin tone and amber eyes.

This is Cate Blanchet, a summer after my own heart. Cool tones and a very low contrast between her hair and skin.

Lastly, here is Amy Adams. She is the epitome of a spring. Strawberry blonde hair, peaches and cream skin and light teal eyes.

So, are you ready to figure out your season? You might already have a decent idea of it at this point.
Once you know for sure which color palette you fall into, slowly start incorporating those shades into your wardrobe. I'm betting you, you'll see a difference, a very positive difference . Likely, you'll start hearing things like "you look really well rested."  "Did you just get back from vacation?" or my personal favorite "You look younger."

Okay, dig in, get going with those. Start small. You likely already have somethings in your shades already sitting in your closet. Put them on and take a picture of yourself, then take a picture of yourself in something that's not your color. The difference will speak for its self.

Okay, that's it for today. I'll catch up with you on Friday.

Well Hello there I'm hoping you had a great weekend and are starting this week off on the right foot.

The majority of people I know do not consider themselves to be morning people. In fact, the majority of people I know consider themselves to be far from being a "morning person". I do think that almost anyone can learn to become a morning person, but that's an entirely different post for a different day .

Today's post is for you if any of the following apply to you. Each weekday, you are in a mad dash to get out the door, you find yourself going through whatever laundry is clean just to throw something on or you find yourself eating an unhealthy lunch day after day, just because its the quick and easy thing to do.
See, the thing about if you do any of those things I just listed is that it shows.  You might not thinks that's a big deal, either. However, it might be. If you are showing up to work 3 days out of  5 in a wrinkled shirt and pants, you're boss might be thinking "She doesn't not take this job seriously."
Alternatively, it might just be a matter of you knowing that you can do better by you.  Regardless of what your motivation might be, let me share with you what works for me.

  • Pick out your entire outfit the night before.
The whole entire outfit, including shoes and accessories. Not only pick them out, but pull them out and have them ready to go.  If you are not a morning person, you likely groggy and only half awake in the morning. You are going to look far more put together if you decide what you are wearing when your mind is clear and sharp.

  • Buy a handheld clothing steamer.

The simple fact is this, if your clothes are wrinkled, you'll look like a slob. And yes, people DO notice. Dragging out the ironing board is cumbersome. A handheld steamer is ready to go about 90 seconds after you plug it in. It gets even tough wrinkles out in a matter of minutes.
I first bought This One right before our wedding. We had a destination wedding. I knew that'd I'd need something to smooth out my veil. That was 4 years ago now. This steamer has become indispensable to me.

  • Plan your lunches out for the week and have your lunch packed the night before.

Ger yourself an adorable lunch bag like this one.  Decide on Sunday what you're having for the week, then shop accordingly.  Before you sit down to relax after dinner tonight, make sure that tomorrow's lunch is packed and ready to go. Leaving you with literally nothing to do about it tomorrow other than grab it on your way out the door.

  • Get up early enough.

This sounds like a "Well, Duh" type of thing to say. However, I find that many folks take for granted the amount of time they actually need each morning. Let's say, you need coffee to get going each day and that takes you 20 minutes to make and drink. Then your shower is another 10 minutes, your hair needs 15 minutes to be dried (just don't show up to work with wet hair!), 10 minutes for make up and getting dressed and then you have a 30 minute commute. That's almost 90 minutes total. Getting up at 7:45 won't cut it if you need to be to work at 9:00 am. Take a realistic audit of your time in the morning and plan accordingly.

  • Have a dress ironed and ready to go at all times.
                                                            Wrap Dress $68.00

Sometimes, even the best of plans go all to heck. Case in point, one day week before last, I backed down the drive way and headed off to work. I went to take a sip of my coffee. Welp, the lid was not on all the way and coffee went all over me.
Thankfully, I was still on my street. So, I was able to turn around , run back into my house and throw my "emergency dress" on. Having a one piece garment that you can literally toss on makes all the difference. Especially when you are in a time crunch.

There you have it, this is what I do. It's nothing hard or ground breaking. Its nothing that take a special level of discipline to do. Its what works though, at least for me. If you have anything that helps you along in the morning, please do tell!

Day Dreaming about Spring !

February 22, 2019 in

Hi there... I hope wherever you are, is warmer than where I am. It's 16 degrees here today. Buurrrr
Of course, I'm already obsessing over spring and summer clothes that have started appearing in stores.  Though when it's July and the fall stuff  starts coming out, that makes me irrationally angry.  That's my own issue though! 😆

I've been pouring through In Style, Town & Country, Vogue and others just drooling over the beautiful things that are coming out.  I'm a 30-something who lives in the burbs and works in an office. The avant garde styles shown on the runways of fashion week, just don't fit into my life. However, there are some things that are will totally work for those of us who don't fly off to St. Tropez in a Lear. Below, is what I'm loving for SS2019 that I can actually incorporate into my wardrobe.

  • One Shoulder Cold Shoulder
The cold shoulder has been hot for the past few years. Now, the style is being updated with this tweak.

  • Bright Pink Anything

                                                     Roksanda Cuffed Pants $1,150.00

Mood and Luna monogram Ring $68.00

It's so great to see bright colors again after a long, cold winter. Tap into your inner Elle Woods and happily rock this one.

  •  Wide Leg Trousers
Wide Leg Trousers by Something Navy $89.00

I had mentioned the wide leg thing Here in a post a month or so back. Its great to take a breather from the skinny leg/jeggings. Those became a thing back in 2009. That's a full 10 years, it was a great run.
the beauty of the wide leg pant is that it makes your waist look smaller. Oh, and they tend to be VERY comfy.

  • Gingham
                                                       Vineyards Vines sleeveless top $80.00

                                                               Gingham Skort $78.00

I LOOOOVE  Gingham, always have. when I was 15 my mom and I did my whole bedroom in baby blue gingham. I'm so excited to see it reappearing everywhere this spring.

  • Polka Dots

                                                         1901 Print Shirt $69.00

Polka-dots...never "out of style", but extra hot this year!

  • Head to toe neutrals

I'm not going to even going to link this specific outfit. Its to the tune of $12,000 But, we all know that this look can easily be replicated at far more accessible prices.

  • Pearl Detailing
Emmy Sandal by Tory Burch $328.00

I NEED these sandals. I may or may not have already placed an order ;)
I first noticed the pear detailing when Lilly Pulitzer dropped their SS19 line. Read about that Here.
Its so pretty and feminine. Also, its like having the accessories built right into your apparel.

Now, I must go back to mittens , flannel and marshmallow man coats. To those of you in places such as Atlanta, where its in the mid 70's, I might need to need vicariously through you for a few months, okay?

What are you excited about adding into your wardrobe this spring?

The subscription box has been a "thing" since BirchBox came out in 2010. I know that subscription boxes existed prior to that.  However, around 2010 is when they really started to take off.
For anyone who is unfamiliar with the concept of the subscription box, it works like this. For a monthly fee (Typically for the price of one product), you'll receive a box of samples to try.
Nowadays, there are boxes for pretty much anything that interests you. Keto, pets, workout, foodie, etc.
For this post though, I'm focusing on beauty boxes. The amount of beauty boxes which are offered now is staggering. Off the top of my head I can think of  Sephora, Target, Elle Magazine ,Ipsy, Morphy, Minted, I could go on and on.

Up until this past October, I wasn't subscribed to any beauty box. Why? Well, because for me, its foolish to pay for makeup samples. I could walk into any Sephora or Nordstrom and get a sample for anything I want, for free. Why would I pay for this?

Flash forward to this past September. There was a HUGE meltdown in the YouTube beauty community. A bunch of really abhorrent people got exposed for who they truly were.

This, is when I first heard about Boxy Charm.
One of those nasty YouTubers , had previously collaborated with Boxy Charm.
While numerous other companies took a "wait and see" approach to dealing with her. Boxy charm, cut their ties with her immediately.  While other companies were hoping things would "just blow over", Boxy Cham's CEO came out and said something along the lines of "We don't care if everyone forgets about this in a few weeks time. We are appalled by racism and refuse to have anything thing further with this person.(Obviously, he said it far more eloquently than this.)
That was what first put them on my radar.  Imagine my excitement when I learned that Boxy Charm sends you 4-5 FULL SIZED products each month for $21. I signed up right then and there.
Let's say that I have not been disappointed at all. The boxes are all guaranteed to be worth over $100.00  .
This is the box that just came last week. The Better than Sex TM mascara alone, would cost more than the whole box.

When you sign up, you answer a bunch of questions in regards to which colors you like, skin type, etc. They make sure if you have dry skin, you won't receive products for oily skin or get colors that you abhor.

If you are intrigued, I'd total recommend giving it a try. In my opinion, this is the easiest and least expensive way to get a hold of high end makeup. If you find that its not for you, you can cancel at any time.

If you do try it, I'd love to know what you think!

Let's get acquainted

February 18, 2019 in

From some reason, unbeknownst to me you folks have been subscribing like crazy here. ( side note.. I get notified with each new subscription. However, it does not give me the name or email of who subscribed. If it did, you better believe that I'd be thanking each and every one of you! XO) I'm giddy and humbled.
I really thought that when I was "strongly encouraged" to start this blog by the company that sends me makeup to test, I really thought that Lisa & my mom would be the only readers of it. While I'm shocked thrilled that, that is not the case, I realize that if you don't know me in real life, I haven't shared much about who I am on here.
I accessed a random question generator on line, so lets do this!

  1. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Oh my gosh, they started with an easy one. EXTROVERT!  I love people. I love to talk to people, I love to hear about their children, where they last went on vacation , etc.
I'm married to an introvert. When we go to a party or other social gathering, he's tired when we get home. Even if we had a great time, he'll need to recharge. Me on the other hand, I'm so jazzed up when I come home from being surrounded by others.

 2. Where do you live?
Plymouth, Massachusetts. Where the Pilgrims landed in 1620 and where Thanksgiving began. There are no words to express exactly how much I love it here.
From my porch, I hear the horns from the ships as they are leaving the harbor for the day. on overcast nights (In the spring/fall) I'll open up our bedroom window and fall asleep listening to the fog horn.

 3. Sun rise or sunset?
Ahhh. Both are lovely. However, for me its sun rise, hands down. There is just something about "The dawn of a new day" that I just embrace. I watch the sunrise every day with Decoy and Bandit (My rescue dogs). There is something so metaphoric with a sunrise. Its like God is reminding us that no matter how dark the time before might be, the light will always break through that darkness.

 4. What is one thing you will never do again?
Be a source of narcissistic supply. Nope, no way , no how.
I appreciate love and tranquility far too much to ever let another narcissist try to interrupt it with their crazy making and manufactured drama.

  5. What do you feel passionate about?
Animal Rescue. In this country, 5,000 healthy dogs and cats are killed EACH AND EVERY DAY in our broken "shelter" system. This HAS to change. We cannot consider ourselves civilized people if we allow this.
Getting a pet is a lifetime commitment. If you are unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment, you are not in the place to get a pet. I've volunteered in rescue for over 10 years now, I'll be volunteering in rescue until my heart beats for the very last time.

6. What is your relationship status?
I'm happily married to the best person that I know. I've heard countless times "Marriage is Hard". I just haven't experienced that myself. While life can certainly be hard at times, having the right person at your side makes even the hard times more bearable.

7. What is an unexpected fact about you?
I'm a HUGE World War II buff. Every aspect of it is hugely fascinating to me. It was the ultimate fight of good versus evil.

 8.  What is something that everyone else likes that you hate?
Anything and everything Disney. I've always hated Disney. I remembering being 5 or 6 years old and choosing to act up (I was typically a very easy child according to my mom) so we'd HAVE to leave the theater when she brought me to see "Sleeping Beauty".  When I was 10 or 11 and would get asked to a sleep over, I'd have to make sure there was no plans to watch "Aladdin" or "The Little Mermaid".

  9. What is your biggest fear?
Snakes. Holy heck, I'm TERRIFIED of them. Just seeing pictures of snakes causes my heart to pound and my hands to shake. While I'd NEVER,EVER intentionally harm any animal, I want nothing to do with snakes. Nope, not even those "harmless little garter snakes."

 10. What is your favorite season?
Summer allllll the way! I love the heat. I love the 9pm sunsets. I love the feel of salty air on my skin, I love the 4th of July.

 11. What is your favorite holiday?
The 4th of July. I could go on and on as to why.

  12. What’s your biggest pet peeve?
People who snap their gum or talk with a mouth full of food. Both gross me out to no end.

13. Name a LEAST favorite of each.. food, drink, month and color?
Sushi , Any hard alcohol, March and green.

 14. What do you spend most of your disposable money on?
Dog rescue, clothing, and makeup

  15. What would you most like to learn and why?
To play golf. It looks so relaxing and fun all at the same time. Its guaranteed hours outside and I love the clothing.

 16.  Do you believe in soul mates?
Very much so.

  17. What are you most thankful for?
My husband, our dogs, our home, my mom, my mother in law, my job, my health.

 18.  What are your guilty pleasures?
Binge watching the Mary Tyler Moore Show (Young women NEED to watch this show) and  Squinny's pizza.

 19. How do you feel about sharing your password with your partner?
Yea, why not? Like Dr. Phil says "people who have nothing to hide, hide nothing."

20.  Do you believe in astrology?
Ha. NO. Sorry, but I think its complete nonsense. I don't even know my sign or care enough to look it up.
if people like to read their horoscope for fun, that is harmless. However, when you start making actual life decisions based on that stuff... Nope.

So, wow if you made it this far, I'm seriously impressed. Is there anything I missed that you'd like to know?
I'd love to hear your answers too!

Get this week off to a phenomenal week!

Ohhh Ahh, Lilly

February 15, 2019 in

I've been a fan of Lilly for 10+ years now. However, it seems as if their SS19 collection is just beyond fantastic.  They really knocked it out of the park this time.

This top!  Couldn't you just envision Jackie Kennedy wearing this down in  Hyannisport?

Shawn Beaded Halter

Ohhhhh Look at this dress.
It's so elegant, but still looks like its so comfortable.

Adalee Shift Dress

Where are my 2019 brides? Here is your shower/honeymoon dress. Heck, my anniversary is in the spring and I want this! (also available in pink)

Allyson Lace Dress

You know what is so great about this dress? Well, aside from how pretty it is? It has a 13/4 adjustable hem. So, you can decide if you want it shorter or longer each time that you wear it.

Vena Stretch Shift Dress

"Oh my Gawd, Shoes!" Anyone else remember that?
Imagine how these would look with a fresh hot pink pedi?

Moira Pearl Sandal

This jacket...the "coolness" of a denim jacket, but with girlishness mixed in. I'm in love.

Seaspray Denim Jacket

These earrings are so on trend. I love how instead of it just having tassels, these are actual flowers.
I need these.
Cascading Petal Hoop Earrings

I seriously could go on and on here. I'm loving this entire collection.
There is just something about Lilly. It just has that je ne sais quoi that immediately brings you to sun drenched summer weekends, hydrangea blooms and salty air.
I especially love getting that vibe this time of the year. Again, I don't want to wish so much as a single day away. However, I'd be a liar if I tried to tell you that I didn't eagerly look forward to summer each year!.

What does Lilly put you in mind of?

Have a fantastic weekend.

Well, hello there.
Today is the day before Valentine's Day. For those of us who are happily coupled, its a fun day or at absolute worse, just another day. For folks who might happen to be in a troubled relationship, things can get a little tricky.
However, by and large I think that Valentine's Day is the hardest on folks who are single.

According to 2017 US census data, 34% of adult Americans are unmarried and not in committed relationships That's 1/3 of the adult population. If you are that demographic, this one is for you.

First and foremost, there is NOTHING wrong with you. You are not a "loser".  Even the happiest couples that you know, have also had their share of being a single on Valentine's Day.
I can tell you first hand that I spent plenty holidays as a single lady. I was always of the mind set that I would never settle just to be in a relationship. I had (high, very high) standards, that I was simply unwilling to compromise. This served me very well (Hello, Chad). However, that meant that there were years where I was at home watching TV on Valentine's Day night. If that is you this year, here are a few tips for you.

  • Take a 36 hour moratorium on social media.
Having to scroll past countless photos of roses delivered to the office and photos of "Date night!"  is not going to do anything but make you feel crummy.

  • Don't do the bitter jaded thing.

Even if you really DO believe that this is a "Hallmark Holiday" don't go around saying that or other stuff along those lines. Its not going to make you feel better, its just going to make others pity you or resent you. Mother's Day actually WAS created by Hallmark. We don't go around complaining that there is a day to celebrate all the moms out there. Why complain that there is a day to celebrate love?

  • Treat yourself to something you've had your eye on
I just looked it up, the average American will spend $136.57 on Valentine's this year.
If you are single and free this year, that means you are not on the hook to spend anything on anyone else. This is the time to get yourself those shoes, book that massage etc.

  • Remember, even though you are single now, you won't always be
Real love is VERY real and its worth waiting for. When it seems like your entire friend circle is full of people who are in love, getting married , etc , Its easy to feel like you'll forever be the single one. That is not true. Speaking from personal experience, I remember being 25 or 26 and feeling like it was ONLY ME who was not in a committed relationship. I knew people who were getting engaged to people who were not what they really wanted. But, because they were at an age they selected in their mind, that "had" to check that box and get engaged. You my beautiful friend, you are worth SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. You deserve real, true love. You deserve giddy anticipation, you deserve to swoon. I promise, when you do get there, you'll hardly remember the days that you DIDN'T have it.

My heart hurts for those of you who want to be in a committed , loving relationship , but just have not found it yet. I know that its hard to be patient when there is something that you REALLY want. remember though, God, The Universe...they have perfect timing.
If you are finding yourself really feeling down, drop me a line. I'm here for you.

Duping Divas...Part 2!

February 11, 2019 in

Welcome back from your weekend, Friends!

I was recently looking at my analytics. My 2nd most read post here was "Duping Divas" (read it: Here ) . My all time most read post, was a step by step tutorial on making restaurant quality pizza.  (read that one Here) Because, really WHO doesn't LOVE pizza.

Anyhow...I'm always taking notes when it comes to the new makeup I purchase. I'd say that now I have enough to share a new dupes post!
I must say, I'm shocked at how indistinguishable "affordable" and " high end" makeup are becoming. I'm finding that by and large, the only difference is in the package, not the formulas of the makeup its self. This is such a drastic change from back in the late '90's  when I first started wearing makeup. I'd save my baby-sitting money and lunch money (sorry, Mom) to be able to go to the Clinique counter with my friend Kathleen on Friday nights.

Now, its a whole new ball game. With giddy excitement and no further delay, let's get you some new makeup!

First up Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette and Rimmel Magnif'Eyes Palette in "Spice"
   Urban Decay $54.00
Rimmel $8.99

Here we go, we start things off with a $45.01 savings.  These are the EXACT SAME. The shades are identical. They are both equally long lasting. Its a "no-brainier"!

Moving on, even the best of eye-shadows will look better and last longer when you have an eye-shadow primer on. Eye-Shadow primer is one of those things that 10 years ago, I'd never heard of. Now, I cant do without it. My all time favorite is  this one by Nars . I love it, its easy to apply and will last 14+ hours. I was quite happy to discover HD Primer by NYX . They are interchangeable!
Nars Pro Prime $26.00
NYX HD Prime  $7.00

Well, would you look at that, you just saved $19.00! Who's better than you?

Speaking of primers, facial primers are a necessity. They give you the clear, smooth base that is necessary to put on an even, lasting coat of foundation. The right primer hides enlarged pores, dry patches and uneven skin tone.
My new "Product Hero" foundation is a bit of a splurge. Its the Tatcha Silk Canvass Primer
This stuff is like NOTHING I've ever used before. Its Photoshop TM in the form of cosmetics. (seriously, just google this stuff)
After watching a video by Jeffree Star, I had to try the Poreless Putty Primer by ELF.
Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer  $52.00
ELF Poreless Putty $8.00

These two go on the exact same. The scent the same and have the same texture. When I tested them out, the ELF one did break down sooner than the Tatcha one did. Still though, it was after the 10 hour mark. Up until then, there was no difference. Oh, except for the $44.00 savings. That was the difference.

Keeping on keeping on with primers... Did you ever find yourself talking to or looking at someone who just seems to have that "glow from within" look to them? In all likelihood, its probably their primer. No, I'm not kidding. Primers like Becca Back light Base have a opalescent quality to them. They are shimmery in the bottle, but go on clear. They literally give you a radiant glow.   Now, Physician's Formula makes their own version. Its their Spotlight Primer
Becca Back Light Primer  $39.00
Physician's Formula Spot Light Primer  $12.00

Okay, full disclosure here...ounce per ounce, the price of these two are VERY close. However, the PF one is only 1/2 the size of the Becca primer. So, if you want to test this type of primer out, or don't wear makeup with a high frequency, let this dupe save you $27.00

What's all this talk about primers good for if you don't have a good foundation to wear with it?
More often than not, I choose to wear a light to medium coverage foundation. Sometimes though, you just want or need (bruises) a full coverage foundation. If you are going to be having photos taken, for example you'd want a high coverage foundation.
A few years back, Influenster sent me this Kat Von D Lock It Foundation . Boy, this is serious stuff. Full coverage foundation can get "dangerous". Nobody wants that "caked on" look. Up until now, the Kat Von D foundation was one of the only ones out there that managed to give a very full amount of coverage without looking "heavy". Now, enters in NYX Can't Stop Won't Stop foundation

Kat Vov D Lock-It   $35.00

NYX Can't Stop, Won't stop $15.00

I like the NYX one better. It feels far lighter on the skin, but has just as much coverage.  Its just more comfortable to wear in my opinion. Also, its more comfortable for your wallet, (corny, I know!) saving you $20.00.

Moving along in almost the order of application, let's chat about setting powder. When you are that young, fresh faced beauty you have a lot more leeway when it comes to powder, whether it be what brand, how much you use, etc. Then, you get into your late 20's and beyond. Suddenly, it does matter. If you are not oh so careful, you will find yourself accentuating all of those fine lines. Swell, just swell.
Laura Mercier's Translucent Setting Powder is so highly revered because it actually blurs fine lines along with setting your makeup perfectly. Its $39.00 and worth it. Up until Maybelline's Fit Me Loose Powder came out, literally no drug store powder could come close to the one by LM . However, the playing field has been leveled. This Maybelle powder is a rock star.

Laura Mercier Powder $39.00
Maybelline Fit Me Powder  $6.00 (At Target, $8.00 at Ulta)

By picking the Maybelline powder up on your next Target run, you can save $33.00

And then, the last one for today is going to be the biggest savings of them all.
Recently, my gorgeous friend, Anita or "Anita with the good hair" as I call her and I, were discussing boar bristle hair brushes and all of their attributes. They are gentle on hair to prevent breakage, they redistribute the hair's natural oils to help make your hair super shinny.

The "Gold Standard" of these brushes is by Mason Pearson.  The Classic Mason Pearson Brush is $230. Yes, you read that right. That's $30 more than the payments on my 1st car. This Nearly Identical Brush By Raincry is $70.00

Mason Pearson Brush $230.00
Raincry Brush $70.00

The Raincry brush is going to save you $160.00!! Imagine what you could put that money to instead?

Well, that finishes off this edition of  "Duping Divas" . These dupe posts are a labor of love. It takes a lot of time and testing to make them come to fruition. However, seeing how popular they are, we "can't stop, won't stop" as NYX would say!

If you know of any spot on dupes, please share them with us!!
