Happy mid-week. Here in New England, the 'Snow Miser" is here in full force.  I understand that is our burden to bear living here. We get 3 amazing seasons and one crappy one. Regardless of that though, Once we get into March I want tulips and budding green leaves.
Anyhow, I'm just going to ignore the snow and cold and live in spring, if only in my mind.
A lot of my "go-to" beauty sources (Refinery29, Allure, Total Beauty , In Style) have been showing what they are forecasting what hair and beauty trends they are expecting to take off for this upcoming season.

The first thing I've noticed is the clean skin reemergence. I've looked through the ads from all the major fashion houses. I didn't see one single contoured face. Truth be told, I'm NOT sad to see that look fade off into oblivion. Its so nice to see skin again. I mean actually see skin, not skin which is covered in an inch of foundation, bronzer and highlighter.

I've been seeing almond shaped nails all over. I'm living for it. The coffin nail got the last nail in its coffin. Ah-ha ha..I crack me up! Really though, the almond nail can be just as practical as it is pretty. Its a win.

Speaking of nails still. It looks like the accent nail is still very much a thing. Only, it has moved from the ring finger to the middle finger.

the best thing that I've read/seen so far was in this article in "Harper's Bazaar" which proclaims "Instagram Makeup" to be dead. Here is the quote : "Minimum effort, maximum impact. Not the painstaking, laborious umpteen layers of shadow we’ve come so accustomed to seeing on Instagram"
Friends, to this I say.. "Thank Gawd, its about time!!!!"

Baby bangs...Not all of us can rock these. I sure as heck can't. My hair is VERY curly and I do not have the facial structure for it. However, if you do..now is the time for it.

Botox. I keep reading how Botox is going to be big this year. Botox has been big for quite some time now. I think though, the "bad" stigma of it is going away. Its becoming accessible to "everyday people" not just those folks who live on Beverly Hills.
Let me just jump,in with this editorial though... If you do opt for Botox, this is not the time to be looking on "Groupon" or your neighbor's sister's Botox party. If you are going to have someone inject botulism into your body, you need to make darn sure they are licensed and insured.

The pastel eye ... This pastel eye stays closer to natural tones though. No frosted blue  shadow circa 1976.
This trend continues on with the more natural look of makeup that seems to be roaring back.

This one, I almost didn't bother to share here. Everywhere I look, I'm seeing how hot the bob will be for this upcoming season. why didn't I want to share it? Well, because the bob has continually been in style since it was first created in the 1920's Its more "timeless" than it could ever be "trend". However, I've seen it too many places to leave it off this post.

That's it for this post. I'll tell you, personally I hope the vast majority of these end up being as hot as they are predicted to be.
I'm SO sick and tired of the "Kardashian" influence in makeup. For what my opinion is worth, I'm really happy to see a return to a more natural look.
What do you think about this? Are you still loving the contoured/baked look? Are you over it like I am?
I'd love to hear what you think!

Sheila

Well hello there! I hope that this  new week is treating everyone well so far.
On my Instagram I shared how I had Zoom Whitening "WhiteSpeed"TM done .
Its something that many folks have asked me about. So, I figured it was something worth sharing here.

A brief overview of this is that its a tooth whitening system that uses LED technology to whiten your teeth. It can lift your teeth up to eight shades.  The results are immediate.

I had already gotten my teeth pretty darn white on my own. (See how Here ).  However, I was very intrigued by this "Hollywood Whitening Process ".
Using a tooth shade chart like this one, my dentist determined that my starting shade was "B1"

Two weeks prior to my appointment, my dentist's office gave me prescription anti sensitivity tooth paste. I must say, I think this made a HUGE difference. I've heard from many people, they couldn't complete the process due to sensitivity. Having twice daily use of super strong anti sensitivity tooth paste for a full two weeks helped fortify my teeth.

On the day of, I went into the office (sorry, no step by step pictures. I wasn't down for that.) they put a thingamajig (impressed by my dental terminology, aren't you? he he) in my mouth to keep it wide open. The dental assistant put stuff (more terminology)  over my gums to protect them from the light. She then put a high concentration of peroxide onto my teeth. I was handed a pair of glasses that looked like "Blue blockers".

They had told me to bring my earphones and my iTunes. I had the glasses on and found the whole experience very relaxing .
They do it in 4 sessions of 15 minutes at a time. By the time some people get to the 3rd or 4th round is when the sensitivity gets to be too much and they need to stop . I made it through all 4 rounds without feeling a single thing. (Later on that day, I had sensitivity, but nothing bad.)
After just one hour, my teeth were shade BL1, which was what I wanted. Some folks want a more natural white. In that case, they just stop sooner.
To me though, if I was doing this, I was doing this! I was so happy that I did too.

Here are my actual before and after. Both taken in my car, right before I went in and right after I came out from my appointment.

Before

After

They make custom trays for you to take home to keep up with your new white teeth and still enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine.

In regards to the questions I get/ got, here are my answers  :
  • Average cost is $600. However, this varies from region to region and dentist to dentist.
  • It only took just over an hour start to finish and I went to work that day.
  • I abstained from red wine/ marina sauce/ berries for two weeks and I drank my coffee (even hot) from a straw for two weeks as well.
  • Nope, it did not hurt.
  • For the sensitivity after, I was given "relief gel", that stopped it in its tracks.
  • Yes, I'd absolutely recommend this.
If you are somewhat local to me (Plymouth, MA) I highly recommend my dentist. For this or ANY dental issue. If you want his name, just reach out!

Sheila

We are officially in March!!  Its SPRING (Well, not so much here in New England, but I like to dream!) Changing the page on the calendar really has given me spring fever though.

Coincidentally, the newest Vineyard Vines catalog came to my house yesterday. Man, they are killing it this year. Really though, when do they NOT kill it? Being Massachusetts born and raised, I especially LOVE Vineyard Vines as they are a Massachusetts company. #yankeefashion.
Yesterday, my boss who also happens to be one of my closest friends said to me "When you are in preppy attire, you are the most you." I suppose, that I have to agree. I love the whole high fashion thing, but for me Talbots, Jcrew, LLBean, Lilly and Vineyard vines are a better "fit".
Anyhow, back to the latest VV catalog. I'm jonesing over SO MUCH of what they are rolling out this spring.

Loooook at this jacket! Its what Coco Chanel would wear if she vacationed on Cape Cod.

If preepsters were only allowed one material, it would be seersucker, IMO. Plus, its SO comfy!

As Sophia Petrillo might say " Picture it...July 17th. The temperature was 98 degrees and the humidity was so thick you could cut it with a knife" We all know that Sophia would have something far sassier to say that anything I'll ever come up with. Regardless though, This cotton dress would be perfect for when the heat comes !

I think my mom had something just like this back in the 1980's when I was a little kid. if she had hung onto it, I'd ask her for hers. She didn't keep it though, so I'll be buying this one.

These are darling, but look so comfy. I can just see these with a little tee and bright cardigan.

So, this so a cover up, but I fully plan on wear it as a dress. Its not at all see through. I'm 5'3 I know that it will hit right above my knee.

The comfort of seersucker in a uber flattering wrap dress. who could ask for me.

So, as we can all see...I need to start saving up lol
Is there a store that is just "speaking to you" this season? If so, which one and what is it about it that you are loving?

XO,
Sheila
