Happy summer Friday, mes amies!
I cannot believe that August starts tomorrow.  The good news is, we still have 1/2 of the summer in front of us.
Today, I wanted to share with you my five favorite accessories of this summer. With the exception of the sandals, all of these certainly can (and will) be used year round.  These are the accessories that I have gotten the most use out of so far this summer.

Top Row:

Left - Baublebar Pearl Initial Necklace  $ 48.00         Find It Here
It looks so pretty on (faux) tanned skin

Right:  Kendra Scott Cuff    $80.00      Find it Here

Middle :  Bottega Vanetta Dupe Bag     $70            Find It Here

This bag looks so much like the real deal. My hubby and I were waiting for a table at dinner. A lady complimented me on my "Bottega Vanetta". I told her it was am Amazon dupe, she did not believe me. I sent the link to her right then and there as our husband sat rolling their eyes.

Bottom Row:

Left-   Tory Burch Ankle Wrap Sandal      $268.00    Find It Here
These just have such a cool vibe to them. I always get compliments on them.

Right: Tom Ford Jennifer sunglasses $395.00       Find It Here
Named after Tom ford's favorite client and dear friend , Jennifer Anniston. I coveted these for YEARS. Back in my '20's , I had an "inspired" pair that I got at Ulta.  I always wanted the real deal. Finally this spring, I decided it was time.  I'm so glad that I did.

So, what have you been loving and living in so far this summer? Tell me, I want to know .

Clarisonic Alternatives

July 29, 2020 in

Hi Babes, welcome to the halfway point of the week.

So, today's post is a total bummer. As of September, Clarisonic is going away for ever. They are closing up shop and going out of business. When I first heard this news two weeks ago, I panicked. There is no way I can go back to an old face cloth for washing my face.
After the fear subsided, I went into survival mode. I immediately started searching and researching brushes that might make a good substitute.

Here is what I found.

LAVO  Facial Cleansing Brush                   Find It Here

I almost wonder if my Clarisonic brush heads will fit on this? They look like they might? This is very highly rated and is only $29.00

ProX by Olay                                      Find It Here
Olay Consistently provides high quality products at a fair price. I'm inclined to think that this brush will continue in that trend. Its $35.00

My Life My Shop Spring Brush                                               Find It Here

The reviews on this one make me want to order it now. I read through over 78 reviews and didn't anything negative. It sells for $27.00

GaKoko Facial Brush      Find It Here

This looks like a lot of brush for not a lot on money. Its under $30 and has 4 attachments!

Vanity Planet Spin Brush      Find It Here

This one has attachments for both face and body. I'm thinking that will be amazing for sunless tanning exfoliation! Its 32.00!!

If you use any of these (or any others) PLEASE let me know your thoughts and opinions.

RIP Clarisonic

Happy new week, Mes Amies!
So, did you preview Nordstrom's Anniversary sale?   I've been going over it since Friday.
I normally don't post too much here about it. The blogesphere is saturated with Nsale posts.
However, this year, I get to shop the sale a full two weeks before its open to the public and a full week before it's open to card holders. So, if it might be beneficial to you guys if I give you a heads up as to what you might want to snag? If so, I'm more than happy to oblige!

If you don't know what the big deal is, let me try to break it down for you. Once per year , Nordstrom holds their Anniversary Sale. what is special about it is that its all of the brand new merchandise that is on sale. Most items are prices at 40% off from what they will be once the sale is over.

Here are a few tips to help you get the most from the sale.

Go to the preview, which is live now. Decide what you want, and add those items to your wish list. This will be key at check out during the sale. Things go FAST during the sale. You have a much better chance of scoring your goods.

Get the Nordstrom Card. I'm not typically one to advocate for store credit cards. Typically, I will not use them. Nordstrom is the exception though. If you have the card, you get to shop earlier (Stuff sells out quickly). Also, you will earn Nordy Notes, which you can spend like cash.

Use (one of ) your double points day(s).  For me at least, this will be my largest Nordstrom Purchase of the entire year. When you are a Nordy card holder, you typically get 3 points for each dollar that you spend. With a double points day, you get 6 points per dollar. For the sake of round numbers, say you spend $1000.00. With double points, that means you'd earn 6,000 points. That means that Nordstrom will be shortly sending you a $60.00 gift card.

Take an inventory now of everything that you, your family members and home might need.   Has your hubby been mentioning needing new jeans? Are your bath towels not so fluffy any longer? Do you want a pair of new ankle boots?  List it all out now.
I budget and plan for this sale. I often spend a pretty penny. That's because I keep a running inventory of everything we will need for this upcoming season. I'd rather buy it all now with a steep discount.

Set a budget for wants. You have listed out what you need, that's great. However, its okay to grab a few wants as well! For this though, set a budget and stick to it. Its SOOOOO easy to get caught up in the "BUY NOW!!" mentality.

If you are on the fence, BUY IT.   Nordstrom is amazing in regards to their return policy. You can always send it back if you realize you don't love something. If you hem and haw though, its a very real possibility that you'll loose your chance.

Okay, here are the  key dates.

Are you going to be shopping this amazing sale?

Happy Friday, Mes Amies! How are you all today?
So, week before last I tried this recipe from The New York Times.  You guys, it was SO good. I typically only share my own recipes here. ( I'm not looking to get myself in trouble for any sort of infringement.) However, I'm making an exception for this one, it's that good. Also, its super simple and easy. If you have children, I'm willing to bet you that they will gobble this right down.

You are making a super yummy sour cream and onion dip and then using that to adhere the bread crumbs to the chicken. It already sounds much better than a boring old egg, huh? Even better than that, the sour cream marinade will keep the chicken so tender due to the lactic acid in it.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, halved horizontally (see Tip) and pounded 1/8-inch thick, or use 4 chicken cutlets (don’t split or pound)
  •  Kosher salt and black pepper
  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced chives (or 1 tablespoon dried chives), plus more for serving
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 2 cups panko bread crumbs
  •  Canola oil, for frying
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges

PREPARATION

  1. Pat chicken dry, and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the sour cream, chives and 1 tablespoon onion powder. Season with salt and pepper. Add the chicken and turn to coat. (Chicken can sit in the marinade for up to 8 hours. Refrigerate, then let come to room temperature before cooking.)
  3. In a shallow bowl or lipped plate, stir together the panko and remaining 1 tablespoon onion powder; season with salt and pepper.
  4. Working one at a time, press the chicken breasts into the panko, using your fingers to pack the panko onto both sides of the chicken, and place on a large plate or a sheet pan.
  5. Line a plate with paper towels. Heat 1/8-inch canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Drop a piece of panko in: If it sizzles, the oil’s ready. Add a chicken cutlet (or two, if they can fit comfortably), and cook until golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes per side. Transfer to the paper towel-lined plate and sprinkle with salt. Repeat with remaining chicken, adding and heating more oil as needed, and removing excess panko from the pan with a slotted spoon.
  6. Serve chicken with more chives and lemon wedges for squeezing.

Tip

  • Freezing the chicken breasts for 15 minutes to firm them up will make slicing them through the middle easier.

I noticed in the comments section someone said that they substituted crushed up potato chips for the panko crumbs. I can only imagine how good that would be!

Make this!

Enjoy!

Box O' Empties

July 20, 2020 in

Welcome to a new week, lovlies!
What could be a better way to start your week than looking at my trash? LOL. No, really, there is a point to this.
I decided to keep track of which beauty products I go through at a rapid rate.  These are my tried and true products. Since this a place where we talk about all things beauty, so I'm going to share them with you :)

Necessaire Body Wash         Find It Here

If you ever told me I'd be so obsessed with a body wash, I'd of never believed you. However, this stuff is just that good. Its so hydrating and gentle. It turns my shower into a spa like experience for a brief moment.

Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover            Find It Here

For years, I thought that Lancome's Bi-Fiscil eye makeup remover was the best out there. It was the only one I used from 2007 until earlier this year. What changed? I received a free sample of this.
Not only does it work better, bur its also less money.

Too Faced Eye Insurance                   Find It Here
Everyday.....I use this EVERY DAY. I don't have particularly oily eyelids, still I can't be without this. It makes my eye-shadow apply more smooth and evenly and helps it to stay on all day. A useful hint for you...if you have an oily nose or t-zone, apply this there as well. The shine will be GONE.

IT Cosmetics Lash Blowout           Find It Here

What can I say? This is my end all, be all mascara. My lashes look like I have extensions in when I wear this. It doesn't clump or flake. It doesn't wear off, it doesn't run down my face.

Olaplex 3        Find It Here

This amazing concoction, where do I begin? For me, this is a big component to getting my curls back. Its good for ALL hair types though. If you have damaged or over processed hair use it two or three times per week. If your hair is health, use it once per week to keep it that way.

Moroccan Oil Restorative Mask       Find It Here
The scent of this stuff by itself is enough to make me love this. However, its benefits are so much more than the amazing way it makes your hair smell. It fortifies and protects your hair and also makes it soooooo soft.

Dr. Dennis Goss Daily Peel       Find It Here

This product has induced panic in me. why? Because it was sold out. I CANNOT be without this product. It has my skin look brighter than EVER. It makes all of my serums and cream preform so much better. I'd give up 10 other products, if that is what was necessary to keep this one.

So, there you go. Those are my empties for this month.
I hope you have an amazing week!

Happy Summer Friday, Mes Amies!!!

Are you doing well today? I sure hope so.

I wanted to share a review with you today. As always, (Okay, as is most of the time) I bought this myself with my own money. This is a completely unbiased review.

Today, I'm sharing my thoughts about the PMD Personal Microdermabrasion  tool.

If you are into beauty and skin care like I am, you are likely very aware of microdermabrasion and its benefits.

Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation and skin rejuvenation procedure that leaves your skin looking brighter and feeling softer immediately. A professional microdermabrasion treatment at a spa can set

you back $100+ per session.

However, most of us are not able to be spending $100 + every week.

There are certain tools and lotions that you can buy at Target or CVS, However, they are nothing like an in- office microdermabrasion treatment.

Thankfully, there is now budget-friendly option that actually mimics a professional treatment.   After using it twice, it’s paid for itself. Personal Microderm (PMD) is an at-home skin care tool that fades the appearance of blemishes, dark spots, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, and evens out skin tone and texture. The PMD uses a combination of patented spinning discs embedded with aluminum oxide crystals and vacuum suction to remove dead skin and increase circulation.

Out of a panel of 30 women, 100% of women said their skin was softer after using the Personal Microderm, and 95% said they felt more confident in their skin after using this product. I had seen these states and had my eye on this little gizmo for awhile. I finally decided to get it. Now, I can COMPLETELY attest to these results. I was a sworn believer after my first use because I could not believe the results.

                                                   (Source : PMD Beauty)

HOW TO USE THE PMD

The PMD Personal Microderm can be used once every 6-7 days. It is crucial that you are giving your skin a full week to rejuvenate before using it again. This is due to the fact that the top layer of skin has been removed during the process. You need a week between treatments to recover and regrow new skin cells.

There are different discs ranging from ultra-sensitive to very intense depending on your skin sensitivity and desired results. The device instructions show to start with the white disc (the most sensitive) and practice on your arm or leg before using on your face.

Begin by cleansing your face and thoroughly drying your skin. Next, plug in the PMD device and begin with the white disc. Make sure you hold your skin taunt and smoothly glide the device across your skin in an upward motion. Do not apply pressure, and do not stop or remain in one spot. You should only do one pass per area. After you’re done, be sure to wash the cap and filter and replace the discs after every 3 uses.  The manufacturer says that you will begin to see results after 8-12 weeks. However, I can tell you that for me it was much sooner. By week three I saw a big improvement.

MY EXPERIENCE

I am truly fortunate regarding my skin. I never had acne or anything like that, even as a teenager.

However, I do have VERY dry skin. Initially, I did not see how Microdermabrasion would help my dry skin. I was seriously wrong. Microdermabrasion removes the old dead skin cells. That makes my serums and lotions penetrate deeper and quicker. I use the PMD on Monday nights after cleansing my skin. Initially, my skin was pink after my first treatment, However, that subsided after a few minutes. Personal Microderm removes the top layer of dead, dull skin cells freeing the trapped pores that may be lurking underneath. Within the second use of this gizmo, my pores were no longer clogged.  Within three uses my skin was looking so much brighter.

I am so impressed with the PMD Personal Microderm PRO and highly recommend it.

When you first get it, practice on your arm or leg. You will have a feel for it almost instantly.

I am sure it goes without saying, but don’t leave it in one spot for too long, you’ll give yourself a hickey.

Screw off the top and clean it thoroughly after each use. Be prepared to be shocked (and kind of grossed out) by all of the yuck that comes out of your skin.

If you are interested in trying this, you can find it here:  PMD PRO

If you have any thoughts or questions, just sat the word. Have a beautiful weekend!

Hello, Mes Amies! Happy Mid-week. Mid July too, summer PLEASE slow down.

Today's post is due to the question I get pretty much anytime I wear my Golden Goose sneakers.... "Are they worth it?" It's a very fair question. They are pricey. If you are going to make the investment, you want to be sure that they are worth it.

Long story short, yes, they are worth it, in my opinion.  Here is why:

First off, the just look so cool.
I know, it sounds adolescent to lead with this. Yet, its what initially drew me towards wanting a pair.
Also, they have a built in wedge heel. Although it cant be seen from the outside, its effects can. It sneakily makes your legs appear longer and leaner. Who wouldn't love that?

They are comfortable.
When I see some people say that these "really are not that comfortable" I'm left to believe that they did not get the correct size. These are so comfortable. There was no "breaking in" period. I can wear them all day long. Whether it be running errands, walking Decoy, or even a day at the office, I can have them on for 10+ hours.

You can wear them with anything.
They look great with jeans, shorts, skirts and even some dresses. If you use this matrix to factor in cost per wear, they are suddenly a lot more affordable.

They are an all season item.
I live in New England. Typically, my summer and winter footwear are VERY different animals.  However, these work in all seasons. Again, the more I get to wear them, the less of a splurge they are. I truly think that I'm going to snag another pair this fall.

Now, if  you don't want to spend the money on these, I completely get it. Luckily, there are MANY look-a-likes out there. Full disclosure, I do not own any of these "dupes". I cannot attest to the comfort or quality. Still though, I wanted to give you options.

Steve Madden

Okay, there are the "dupes". However, like I said though, I do think the real deal is worth it, if your budget allows.

What do you guys think? Would you buy a pair? Or, are you more about getting the same look for less? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

SheShe

Be Back Soon!

July 13, 2020 in

 Happy Monday, Mes Amies!
I'm so sorry for the missed a few days here with you.
Chad and I undertook some home improvement projects this past week. They ended up being way more time and labor intensive than originally expected. However, it was all totally worth it. I cannot wait to share it all with you.
We'll be back to business as usual here on Wednesday.  I  hope that you week is off to a great start.

XO,
SheShe

Hello , Mes Amies! Happy midweek!

Last week, we talked about my return to curly hair. I promised that I'd share with you guys some of the products that have worked best for me. Granted, what works best for me might be the worst product for you. Curly are finicky, there are so many variables.  Curl type, hair porosity are the two biggest factors.

For what its worth, I believe my hair to be high porosity. My curl type started out as a 2C, however, the longer I have gone without heat damage and over processing, its become 3A , yay!  So, if that sounds anything at all like your hair, keep reading!

Shampoo / Conditioner:

First things first.... I resisted the idea of co-washing for literally over a year. I saw how well it worked for many other curlies. Yet, I felt that it would be disastrous for me.  Le sigh. It actually works wonders for me. So, once per week, I use actual shampoo. The rest of the time, I cowash with DevaCurl

These are my FAVORITES. They are literally the best for my curls.

  • Curl Talk By Not Your Mother's                 Find Them Here

Literally, I spend more on coffee each day than a bottle of this. Yes, its very inexpensive, but its also VERY effective.

Styling Products:

My hands down, curly hair product hero. This stuff defines my curls, eliminates all frizz , all without weighing down my hair. I ALWAYS get a "Your hair smells so good" comment from my hubby  too!

  •  Ouidad Advanced Climate Control  Humidity Gel/ Cream    Find Them Here

Living on the coast, the humidity is REAL here. These two products, mixed together have been game changers for me.

Treatments:

  • Olaplex 3                            Find It Here

Curls need a mix of protien and moisture in order to look their best. This is the protein. I only need to use this 1X/week. The difference it makes in the quality of my curls is unreal.

  • Devacurl Melt Into Moisture                      Find It Here

This is the moisture to Olaplex protien!  This is the most moisturizing deep conditioner that I've ever used. Even if you are not a curly girl, this is one amazing product.

There you go, my holy grail curly products. I've weeded through a LOT of different products to get down to this curated list.

SheShe
