Happy Friday!!

Do you have any fun plans this weekend? Here in Plymouth we have a HUGE parade happening... I will not be partaking though. I'll be on the other side of town getting my hair done. Woot-Woot for hairday.

Last weekend, Chad and I spent the day be-bopping around Newport, Rhode Island.

I posted the above photo on my Instagram. I got a lot of dm's asking about my outfit (You guys make me feel SO good.)

I decided to just post the details here 😘

We did some shopping and had a great dinner at the Clark Cooke House, an iconic Newport staple.

I'm already looking forward o going back next month!

Have a beautiful weekend!

XO,

Hi! Happy Monday!

Today, I'm here to talk to you about hair!

I'm on a mission to rehab my hair. Years of bleaching, heat styling along with an out of whack (technical term) have brought my hair to the literal brink.

I've switched from a heavy foil to a more gentle balayage. As for my thyroid, I'm on a new dosage of medication-fingers crossed.  So, that left me with just one last and likely the most relevant factor in my hair damage.... heat styling. Initially, I thought I'd "just let it air dry". I mean it looks so chic on others. Well, my naturally curly hair just got puffy. I cant "embrace the curls" because its so unhealthy , the curls cant form. They just puff.

I researched and researched. What could I do so that I wasn't subjecting my hair to heat damage without looking like a puff ball?

The answer, the heated brush.  Not to be confused with hair dryer/ brush combos that blow hot air.

A heated brush is in the form of a paddle brush. The entire area of bristles heats up. You brush your hair like normal. With just a single pass, hair becomes smooth and shiny. You might be thinking "But you are still heat styling! How is this going to help??!" Trust, I had the SAME concerns.  Here are a few of the key differences:

  • A flat iron clamps your hair between two screaming hot plates, making it VERY easy to singe the hair.
  • A heated brush puts FAR less direct heat on the hair, also you are not putting the heat on both sides.
  • You don't need to "pull or tug" like you do with a flair iron
  • It takes much less time than using a flat iron, so your hair is out of the heat much less time.

Before I purchased this, it would take me an hour to dry then style my hair. Now, I let it air dry and then spend all of 5 minutes running this through.
My hair is already shinny than I've ever seen it. It gets incredibly smooth and soft, but still has body.

If you are tempted to try a heated brush, I'll tell you that I love mine.
Keep in mind, use this only on DRY hair and remember to use a heat protectant.

November Needs

Hi there!

Remember me? Things are so busy here. Still though, I couldn't not come on here and show you some of the best things that I have found and am loving this month. The field is wide this month, so lets get going!

If you know me, you know that I'm such a lover of shoes. Its OUT.OF. HAND. I bought two new pairs of boots and I'm obsessed with both.

Comfort and warmth for DAYS is what you get with these! This is my 6th pair of Sorel Boots. They are so well made, very stylish and functional. They are waterproof, have great traction and can handle the exact type of weather that a New England winter dishes out.

I LOVE these booties. I love them so much. I tried hard to talk myself out of these. Boy, am I glad that I didn't listen. They just have such a cool vibe. I pair these with distressed jeans, a leather jacket and fedora.

After years of complete and total abuse, I'm now in the process of attempting to rehab my hair. I had been spending $50  every other week for in-salon deep conditioning treatments. They for sure are helping. The heat makes the deep conditioner penetrate so much deeper than conditioner can. This gadget makes it so that I can give myself a deep conditioning treatment at home that is just as effective as the pricy ones at the salon.

This one is not a beauty or fashion related. Its so good though, I feel compelled to share.
As I've been working out regularly, aches and pains are a far more common occurrence.  5 minutes under this red light all but eliminates them. It also works wonders for arthritis. If you ever have any type of acute or chronic pain, I strongly suggest that you check this out.

Game changer alert!!! Back to how I've spoken about being in the process of trying to rehab my hair. I knew that I HAD to stop with the blow drying, curling irons and flat irons. I've tried 15 ways to Sunday to just let my hair air dry. I mean it looks so col on everyone else. My hair is just far too puffy though.  Enter this hot brush. Its SO much more gentle than using most hot tools. I let my hair airdry, then run this through once its dry. It smooths it right out in under 5 minutes.

Can you say "Christmas Eve Day"? This is what I'll be wearing. Its so soft and warm. It puts me in the holiday mood hard core.  Its that time! I, for one am very excited about this!
