My NYX Picks

February 12, 2020 in

Howdy all. How is everyone doing today?
I know that I've been promising to incorporate more "affordable makeup". ( I hate that term, I'm sorry. What is affordable to one person is not necessarily affordable to someone else.)
I know that I pretty much have failed at incorporating more affordable makeup on here. However, that changes today.
Today, we are talking about NYX cosmetics.

NYX has been around since 1999. They are certified as vegan and cruelty free. As far as their name goes, it's pronounced "Nicks" not N-Y-X, as its named after Nyx, the Greek goddess of the night.

Okay, now that we have that out of the way... for years now NYX has been my favorite drug store brand. They truly are professional quality cosmetics that are sold in the drug store. To me, there are few to no "misses" in this line. If I were to start a new makeup collection , 90% of it would be by NYX. Today, I'm going to share with you my absolute favorites from this line. I'm not including any links, because this stuff can be found at any drug store, Target or Ulta.

First Up, the Angel Veil Primer  $12.00
I first picked this up because it had been called an "Exact Dupe" for Hour Glass' Mineral Veil primer.
This one is even better. Since I bought it, it's the only primer that I have used. I have primers that cost over $50. This one blows them all out of the water. It makes my face so smooth. The foundation literally glides on. Speaking of foundation, this stuff gives my foundation super powers in regards to how long it stays on and stays in place.

If you lived through the 90's like I did, you'll remember that the only thing that mattered when it came to eye-brows was that they were pin thin. No thought was given to arch placement, color, none of that. All that mattered was that they were waxed and tweezed into oblivion. Some of us were lucky enough to have them grow back. Others, weren't so lucky. I fall into the "not so lucky" category.
I love Anastasia Beverly Hill's Brow- Wiz. Its $22 a pop though and I burn through them awfully quickly.
I found this NYX Microw Brow Pencil $7.00
It has been a game changer for me. It looks and preforms exactly like the expensive ones do. However, it's only 1/3 the price. You cannot beat it.

Staying with eye-brows, Even though, I prefer a natural brow, I've recently become absolutely hooked on  the NYX Eye-Brow Gel $7.00
This is ultra defining and stays in place all live long day! True, you need a steady hand, and you have to work somewhat quickly. Still, its 100% worth it though . I use just a little. As I said, I prefer a natural brow. However, if I were going for a thick, full brow, this would be the very first thing I
would reach for.

Staying with the " I reach for this over the expensive stuff " theme is NYX Super Skinny Eyeliner Marker  $10.00

The tip on this is so thin and precise. I wear it every day to work day. I can get right into my lash line with this. You don't see eyeliner per-say, just a more defined lash line. Last year, we talked about how aging thick, black eyeliner is. (Read that HERE ). This liner is perfect for both top and bottom eyelids. No thick lines, just definition. Plus, if you want to do winged liner, this is absolutely perfect for that.

Next up is "Palettes that you would assume cost $50.00"   NYX Warm Neutrals Ultimate Shadow Palette $18.00"

It seems that in this modern times, a decent eye shadow palette will run you $50 + dollars. Its just stupid.
NYX to the rescue. I bought this palette after watching a YouTube review of it by Dominique Saches.
These shadows are so blend-able and long lasting. Little to no fall out when applying them and they stay in place until you want to take them off.

Last on today's list is the NYX Professional Highlight & Contour Pro Palette $26.00

I know that $26.00 is on the higher end price wise for drug store makeup. However, this has 8 pans of product.
Regardless of the season (aka if I have a fake tan or not) this palette has all the shades I need for creating perfect dimension on my face.  They are very easy to blend. That saves you from having streaks of color on your face. This is a winner.

So, there you go. Do you like NYX? Did you know it was pronounced NICK'S?
If you have any other great products by this brand, share them with me!

XO,
SheShe
